Positioned on the edge of a 250-metre-high dune, Dune Camp has the most extraordinary views across the NamibRand Reserve. Recently reimagined with rich natural textures, handcrafted furnishings and a warm, earthy palette, the camp carries a design language guided by one simple idea: Of the Earth.
Dune Camp has a unique charm which appeals to travellers looking for a down-to-earth but stylish experience. After a day out exploring the reserve, there’s nowhere better to return to, whether that’s sinking into a chair at the fire pit as the sun goes down, or simply taking in the view from your own deck.

Dune Camp sleeps a maximum of 16 guests in 8 rooms: 6 Tented Rooms and 1 two-room tented Family Suite.
The Tented Rooms are built on wooden platforms, raised off the ground, and are comfortable and spacious. All have King-size beds (able to convert to twin), along with full indoor and outdoor bathrooms (no bathtubs). New wooden walkways now connect each room to the main area, making it easy to move between the two even after dark. Outside, the private decks offer plenty of room to unwind, with a new daybed that converts effortlessly into a Starbed for sleeping out under the desert sky, and a ‘Wolwedans Chiller’, a small water-filled silo, to cool off in during the hot summer months.
The Family Suite is ideal for two couples or a family, sleeping up to 4 adults and 2 children. It has two rooms with indoor and outdoor en-suite bathrooms, and a sala with two single beds for children (sharing the bathroom with the adults). The suite also has its own small kitchen and bar, plus a private dining area, giving guests the option of a bit more privacy away from the main camp. Each private deck comes with its own Wolwedans Chiller and opens onto uninterrupted views of the desert.
All rooms are designed to maximise airflow, and because we operate on a light footprint, air conditioning and hair-drying facilities aren’t available. Wi-Fi now runs throughout the rooms. Each room has a minibar with refreshments, and hot beverages are on hand too, with hot water delivered to your room in a thermos.
The main area at Dune Camp is built to make the most of the views across the NamibRand Reserve to the mountains beyond. The lounge is spacious and inviting, a place to sink into a chair with a book or simply take in the desert light.
For dining, guests can choose what suits them, whether that’s a shared table with fellow travellers or a more intimate setting for two. At the heart of it all is the new Silo Bar, a striking addition to camp and the perfect spot for a sundowner or a nightcap before dinner.
As the sun goes down, the fire pit becomes the natural gathering point, drinks in hand and the desert cooling around you. And for those after a little more solitude, there are quiet corners around camp to slip away and be still.
