Being located in one of the most remote areas on earth, in the the oldest desert on the planet – getting to Wolwedans in the NamibRand Nature Reserve can be somewhat challenging for first time visitors – but not impossible. Located approximately 500 km’s from Windhoek and 430 kilometers from Swakopmund, getting there is limited to road or air transport. Arranging an air taxi or chartering a plane to the Reserve is a service we can offer to create a seamless Wolwedans experience for you. We have Toyota Land Cruisers for hire at a minimum 2 day rental for NAD 2500 per day (excluding VAT and daily excess insurance), so guests arriving into Windhoek can self-drive to the Reserve, where the vehicles are conveniently parked and uncharged for the duration of the stay. This means that we only charge our guests for the days that they actually utilise the vehicle and not for the days that the vehicles are stationary at our base camp.
Driving to the NamibRand Nature Reserve is so much cheaper than flying and allows guests to really enjoy the incredible change of scenery, wide open spaces and seemingly endless vista’s that unfold before your eyes, making the journey there, part of the destination.
The Reserve is located 60km’s south of Sossusvlei / Deadvlei and Sesriem and because it borders the Namib Naukluft National Park, many visitors are keen to combine a desert experience at Wolwedans, with the rest of their Namibian itinerary. Simply enquire with our travel desk to find out how we can help you get here.
NamibRand Car Rental is a proud member of TASA registered with the Namibian Tourism Board (NTB).
